Projected Scholarly Edition Volumes

The print volumes we intend to produce are as follows:

  • Volume One: The Letters and Selected Poetry.
Edited by John R. Holmes, Edwin Saeger, Philip Barnard, Elizabeth Hewitt, and Mark L. Kamrath
  • Volume Two: Selections from The Monthly Magazine and American Review (1799-1800).
Edited by Bryan Waterman and Michelle Burnham
  • Volume Three: Selections from The Literary Magazine and American Register (1803-1807).
Edited by Michael Cody, Elizabeth Dillon, and Robert Battistini
  • Volume Four: The Political Pamphlets.
Edited by Wil Verhoeven and Stephen Shapiro, with Amanda Gilroy
  • Volume Five: Historical Sketches and Translation.
Edited by Philip Barnard, Ed White, and Julie Kim
  • Volume Six: Selections from the American Register, or General Repository of History, Politics, and Science (1807-09).
Edited by Jared Gardner and Oliver Scheiding, with Mark L. Kamrath and Elizabeth Hewitt

Our agreement with Kent State University Press stipulates all volumes will follow CSE standards for scholarly editions, like the Bicentennial Edition, and include an historical essay, textual essay, and textual apparatus.

A later digital version of each volume will retain a scholarly apparatus but also be searchable and hyperlink materials in various ways.
